Le Cat Yacht Charters respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”). This policy applies when you use our website, contact us by email or WhatsApp, make an enquiry or booking, or otherwise use our services.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

Your name, telephone number, email address and WhatsApp number;
Your WhatsApp profile name and other profile information made available through WhatsApp;
Messages, enquiries, images, documents or attachments you send us;
Booking dates, times, passenger numbers and cruise preferences;
Catering, accessibility, activity or safety requirements;
Payment confirmations and transaction references;
Information relating to cancellations, refunds, complaints or disputes; and
Technical information such as IP addresses, browser or device information, cookies, timestamps, message delivery information, usage data and system logs.

Information may be provided directly by you, by someone booking on your behalf, or through our website, WhatsApp Business Platform, payment providers and other authorised service providers.

Please do not send passwords, full bank-card details, identity documents or unnecessary sensitive information through WhatsApp or email.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information where reasonably necessary to:

Respond to enquiries and prepare quotations;
Manage bookings, availability, payments and customer support;
Send booking, weather, safety, delay or cancellation updates;
Identify previous enquiries and maintain conversation records;
Arrange requested optional services;
Maintain accounting, insurance and legally required records.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service Providers and International Processing

We may share relevant information with Meta, WhatsApp, payment providers, booking partners and authorised hosting, cloud, technology or AI service providers where needed to operate our services.

Some providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use providers or safeguards that meet applicable POPIA requirements.

Retention and Security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for bookings, customer support, accounting, insurance, safety, dispute-resolution or legal purposes.

We use reasonable safeguards such as restricted access, passwords, two-factor authentication, secure connections, system backups and software updates. However, no electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to confirm whether we hold your personal information, provide access to it, correct inaccurate information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent or delete information we are no longer authorised to retain.

You may also ask us to stop using your information for direct marketing. POPIA recognises rights relating to access, correction, deletion, objections and complaints.

Data-Deletion Requests

To request deletion of your information, email info@lecat.co.za with the subject: Personal Information Deletion Request.

Please include your name, the telephone or WhatsApp number used to contact us, and a brief description of the information you want deleted. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity.

We will review your request and delete information we are no longer permitted or required to retain. Certain records may be kept where required for legal, tax, accounting, safety, insurance or dispute-resolution purposes.

Children and Third-Party Services

Bookings must be made by an adult. Information about children should only be provided by a parent or lawful guardian where reasonably necessary for a booking or safety arrangement.

Third-party websites and service providers have their own privacy practices, for which they are independently responsible.
